BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012 System Requirements | BlueCielo ECM Solutions

Choosing an installation file

Meridian Enterprise is provided in two versions, 32-bit and 64-bit. Different installation methods are provided: executable setup programs and Windows Installer packages. Both methods install the same software, choose the one that is the most convenient for you. Both methods can be used interactively or in silent mode for automated installation. The version that you want to install and the method that you want to use will determine which file to use for installation.

The following table summarizes the capabilities of each setup file and refers to other topics that provide details about how to use the files. The locations of the files shown correspond to the contents of the Meridian Enterprise distribution disc. The paths should be omitted for the locations within downloaded archive files.

Meridian Enterprise 2008a introduced 64-bit versions of the Windows desktop client applications and application links, a major step forward in migration to full 64-bit support. However, numerous features in the applications rely on Windows and third-party components for which 64-bit versions were not yet available. Full 64-bit support for those features has been improved upon with each subsequent release. Therefore, choosing which client version to install for a particular user depends largely on the user's need for the features. We strongly recommend that, if a user needs any of the features, they use the 32-bit version of the Windows desktop client applications until full support is provided in a future release. For a list of the features with limited or no 64-bit support and possible workarounds, see the Release Notes for this version of Meridian Enterprise or contact your BlueCielo Solutions Partner for the latest information available on the BlueCielo extranet.

The 64-bit editions of the Windows desktop client applications are supported on all 64-bit editions of the Microsoft desktop operating systems that are listed in the Supported Software document for this version of Meridian Enterprise. The 32-bit editions will also work on 64-bit operating systems and run as 32-bit processes.

Note    The Meridian Enterprise 64-bit client setup programs include an option to also install the 32-bit Windows desktop client applications. If enabled, the 32-bit version is made the default.
